We’re Hiring: Production / Sanitation Worker
Henry’s Tempeh is looking for a Production / Sanitation Worker to join our team in Kitchener. This is a dynamic, hybrid role that splits time between hands-on food manufacturing and facility sanitation.

Location: Onsite (Kitchener, ON); 65 Trillium Park Place, Unit 13, Kitchener
Shift Structure: Monday to Thursday (9am to 4pm); 1-2 Fridays per month required; total hours 28-35 per week.
One full shift per week will be dedicated entirely to deep sanitation tasks.
Compensation and Benefits: $23 per hour; Health and Dental benefits upon successful 3 month probationary period is passed
Position Summary
The Production / Sanitation Worker is a dynamic, hybrid role essential to both the daily manufacturing and the rigorous cleanliness of our facility. This individual is responsible for the hands-on, small-batch creation of our premium organic tempeh, working within a small, collaborative team to execute all stages of production—from handling raw ingredients to operating industrial machinery.
Beyond daily production support, this role takes the lead on end-of-day production sanitation and dedicates one full regular shift per week exclusively to deep-cleaning tasks. Additionally, this position acts as the primary backup for production staff in the event of illness. Operating in a fast-paced, physically intensive environment, this role is vital to upholding our strict commitment to food safety and regulatory compliance within our HACCP Certified and CFIA inspected facility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Processing & Production Support (Daytime)
- Handle both raw inputs and finished product to manufacture organic tempeh.
- Operate industrial food processing equipment, including ovens, kettles, and packaging machines.
- Carefully monitor the production process, anticipating next steps and working collaboratively with the team to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced and physically intensive environment, which includes some heavy lifting.
- Accurately record production data on specified documents throughout the day.
- Production Backup: Act as the primary on-call backup for production team members in the event of illness or unexpected absences to ensure manufacturing continuity.
2. Sanitation Leadership & Safety Compliance
- Sanitation Lead: Act as the designated lead for production sanitation at the end of each production day, cleaning and sanitizing all equipment adhering to established Sanitation Standard Operation Procedures.
- Dedicated Sanitation Shift: Execute one full shift per week completely dedicated to deep sanitation, facility upkeep, and specialized cleaning tasks.
- Strictly adhere to all company food safety and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Promptly notify the appropriate team member of any deviations, issues, or potential safety concerns that arise in the production facility.
- Work safely in an environment that can be hot and humid.
- Participate in regular production and food safety meetings.
3. Teamwork & Operations
- Work closely with fellow team members in a manufacturing environment.
- Contribute to an efficient production flow by multi-tasking and inter-changing roles as required by the process.
- Participate in a rewarding process to create a great and healthy food product from beginning to end.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certifications
- A current First Aid certificate is an asset.
- A current Safe Food Handling certificate is an asset.
Experience
- Previous food handling or food industry experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working for manufacturing sites certified to a GFSI-benchmarked standard is an asset.
- Please note: While previous experience is an asset, all necessary equipment, operational, and food safety training will be provided for the successful candidate.
